Just
arrived: The Franconia Winter Weizenbock
Dennis
claims this dark strong winter warmer to
be one of his best brews as of yet. As
he describes it: "Our Franconia Winter
Wheat is a dark "Wheat Doppel Bock".
It's Brewed with over 55% of Wheat Malt
and some German Roasted Malt to give it
a nice dark color. Balanced of with some
German Hersbrucker Hops and fermented
with a traditional German yeast strain
to maintain the malty smell and typic al
Banana Flavors with a hint of spice to
it and a slightly cherry finish. This
Wheat is Brewed with 18% Gravity and
finishes out with 7% alc/vol."
Come on over and try for yourself and
help us to decide if we want to match
this great Bock with our upcoming
Butcher ragout Lunch.

Stein Club Corner
A big THANK YOU! to all of you who helped to
make this year's Christmas Party and Toy
drive a great success - we were able to
deliver over 100 toys. Please give yourself
a hand of applause.

Once again, Todd, the generous
representative from Spaten,
was our bier sponsor and as always he found
a special way to make it feel like
Christmas.

As a new addition this year, Gary Hirsch of
Hirsch's Meats
sponsored a Cool(er) a raffle. This cooler
was loaded with delicious seasonal products
from his butcher shop.
Juergen received a plaque from the past and
present Stein Club presidents celebrating
the 15th anniversary.
Thank YOU!

In the News:
Bier is good for you!
|
|
|
BEER IS GOOD FOR US - While red wine has long gained
media attention for its health benefits, researchers
are now finding that similar consumption patterns of
beer offer the same benefits and possibly more.
For example, researchers at Oregon State University
have found that an antioxidant in hops may halt the
growth of prostate cancer. A similar study of hops
in Austria Tufts University study 3000 beer drinkers
showed that those who drink one to two beers a day
have higher bone-mineral densities than
nondrinkers. In similar study published in Austria
suggested that the antioxidants in hops may ease
chronic inflammation that is linked with
cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's and arthritis.
