Tapping the Keg Will
Open
Bavarian
Grill's Oktoberfest Celebration
Around 3 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 19th the
"Lord Mayor" of the Bavarian Grill, will tap
the first keg of Oktoberfest Bier to launch
the restaurant's one-day celebration the
same way that the mayor of Munich earlier in
the day officially opened that city's
gigantic party that lasts until early
October. You are invited to enjoy the "Freibier",
the beer on the house, until that ceremonial
keg is empty.
 If
you don't have plans to fly to Germany, you
can come to the Bavarian Grill and enjoy
good German food, several German Oktoberfest
Biers and some of the same happy German
music you would hear in tents at the site of
the Munich celebration.
Music will be provided by
"Die Kleine Blasmusik", the group that plays
regularly at the Bavarian Grill. They will
perform during the afternoon and then again
in the evening in the outdoor Biergarten.
Reserved seating for dinner is available by
calling 972-881-0705.
A special buffet will be available in the
Bavarian Grill Bankett Stuben for the guests
in the indoor and outdoor Biergarten
featuring a whole slow roasted pork roast,
bratwurst, potato salad,
sauerkraut and other specialties like the "Huehnerbrust
auf Priener Art mit cremiger Lauchsosse", a
grilled chickenbreast served with a creamy
leek sauce.
You and your friends will enjoy yourself at
this Oktoberfest 2009 kick-off!
You asked for it: We will continue the
Oktoberfest Buffet every Saturday during the
Fest from 5 to 9 pm!

Stein Club Corner
Our Spaten and Franziskaner Ambassador
will join us for our
Oktoberfest Kick-off event and we
will raffle off some memorabilia from
this famous Munich brewery.
October 14th - Stein Club Meeting
This will be the meeting to elect a
new board inside a regular fun meeting, and
it is also our traditional kick-off for the
Thanksgiving food drive. We are now
accepting non-perishable food items to be
delivered no later than November 15. If you
forget and would still like to help someone
out, don't worry. We'll take cash donations
and purchase food items for you.

Eisbein on 11-11
Another delightful fall treat awaits Bayern
Stein Club members and other guests on
November
11th, when we will enjoy Eisbein, the
slow cooked, giant ham hock speciality along
with the appropriate side dishes of
Sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and pea puree.
Since the lighter Pilsner style Biers are
popular with this dish, two half-liters of
Bitburger will be included with the dinner.
The cost is $29.75, or with the $ 5 discount
for members, $24.75 for Stein Club "Mitglieder".

In
München during Oktoberfest of course!
I went to Oktoberfest with my sister in
1985. We spent a week there and had an
awesome time! All the sights, smells and
sounds of celebrating München style was
amazing. Several years later I went back to
München with my fiance and had to have a
beer to find my way around! Love German
beer and can now only occasionally tolerate
beer from any other place!

In Phase 2 voluntary amateur judges provided Inga
and her team with detailed feed back.
This Judging Phase ended yesterday and we are now
entering into the 3. phase: German Deli's own
special team of experts will secretly visit leading
restaurants "incognito" for one more look. As you
can see, our consistent "A" rating with the Plano
Health Department should assist the judges to make
the right decision and announce it by October 1st.
What a great OKTOBERFEST that will be!
