This photo was taken at the
Nurnberg(Nuremberg) Christmas Market.
The Christkindlesmarkt is one of the
most famous in Germany. The old part of
the city is built within a medieval wall
and the Christmas Market is located in
the Hauptmarkt which is located in the
center of the old city, Here you will
find a Pyramid(see in the large photo)
with a good luck metal ring that
visitors all want to touch. There are
about 200 wooden stalls that are filled
with Ornaments, Toys, Prune figures,
Nurnberg Angels, Nutcrackers and more.
Two million people attend the Nuremberg
Christmas Market each year. I visited
Nuremberg the year after the wall came
down--the first time people from East
Germany and beyond could plan a trip to
see the most famous Christmas Market in
Germany.
The streets were very crowded, I saw
buses and cars from the East that did
not appear that they could have made the
trip
to Nuremberg. The aisles of the Market
were so crowded that is was almost
impossible to walk or to see the items
in each stall. Thankfully things have
changed over the past 20 years and now
you can find large Christmas Markets in
the eastern part of Germany and in other
east European countries.
I cannot talk about the Nuremberg
Christmas Market without mentioning the
food. Nuremberg is know for their
bratwurst
gingerbread and gluhwein . The aroma of
these various foods permeate the air of
the Christkindlmarket. In addition, if
you are looking for a sit down
restaurant, about a block away from the
market area is the Helig Geist
Spital(Holy Ghost Hospital)
which is now a restaurant and one of the
best in Germany.
It was in that facility that I learned
that in Germany the meals are served as
they are ready which means that not all
people at a table get their food at the
same time. People who do get their food
are expected to begin to eat and not
wait for all the meals to be delivered.
We all learn by our travels.

Drink Bier that is good for you!

"BEER BREWED ACCORDING TO THE GERMAN PURITY LAW FROM
1516 IS GOOD FOR US - While red wine has long gained
media attention for its health benefits, researchers
are now finding that similar consumption patterns of
pure beer brewed with only 4 ingredients offer the
same benefits and possibly more. For example,
researchers at Oregon State University have found
that an antioxidant in hops may halt the growth of
prostate cancer. A similar study of hops in Austria
Tufts University study 3000 beer drinkers showed
that those who drink one to two beers a day have
higher bone-mineral densities than nondrinkers. In
similar study published in Austria suggested that
the antioxidants in hops may ease chronic
inflammation that is linked with cardiovascular
disease, Alzheimer's and arthritis".
