And the
winners are:
Our apologies, We goofed - the link on the first edition
was leading to a beautiful scene we used last year, and
the picture used in the newsletter was taken at the
Eisbach in Muenchen. Therefore we have two winners in
this newsletter! Please excuse the misleading link.
The link in the
picture in our last newsletter brought you to a page
that showed a boat loaded with cattle on King's Lake or
"Koenigssee" im Berchtesgadener Land.

BGL gave it away to a record number of participants!
Thank you all for sending us your entries!
..and the first
winner is:
She wrote: The Königsee lies embedded between
the mountains of the Berchtesgaden National Park,
below the Famous Watzmann Mountain. Its sparkling
Emerald Green water gives the Lake a distinctive
flair that has astounded visitors year after year.
Approximately halfway across the lake stands
the Pilgrim Church of St Bartholomew, Hunting Lodge
of the Bavarian Kings and starting point for the
various Mountain Tours, including the Watzmann East
Wall Tour. Lake Königsee is one of the cleanest
lakes in Germany and only row boats and the electric
boats are permitted on the lake. Its unspoiled
beauty and inaccessible position is thanks mainly to
the steep rocky slopes of the Berchtesgaden
Mountains. Due to its position, depth and Emerald
Green colouring, the Königsee is regarded as one of
Germanys most impressive lakes.
The Lake Königsee belongs to the very few Alpine
Lakes that remain Ice Free in the winter time. Only
during extremely cold winter months and severe cold
temperatures does the Königsee completely freeze
over.
Congratulations,
Brigitte!
Herzlichen
Glueckwunsch!
And the second winner wrote: Eisbach - a tributary
of the Isar which runs directly through the
Englischer Garten in Munchen.

..and the second winner is:
Christian Cypert
Congratulations, Christian!
Herzlichen Glueckwunsch!

Stein Club Corner
It is time for our "Weihnachts Feier":
The December Stein Club Meeting is scheduled for the 9th
at 7 pm in the Biergarten. This will be a regular fun
Stein Club Christmas party and it is also our
traditional kick-off for the TOY drive to benefit My
Friends Place here in Plano to help Foster Children.
Admission to the party is a brand new teddy per person.
Last year we had over 100 toys and we want to beat that
number this year.

You can purchase a cute Teddy bear at the bar for only $
10. You see your Stein Club is working hard to help many
children!

We are now accepting originally packed toys and
non-perishable food items during our "Plano Christmas
Cops" Toy drive benefitting needy Plano families. The
items will be delivered no later than December 15. If
you forget and would still like to help someone out,
don't worry. We'll take cash donations and purchase food
items for you.
January Dinner features Braunkohl
Another delightful fall treat awaits Bayern Stein
Club members and other guests on January 14th, when
we will enjoy Braunkohl. Since the lighter style
Biers are popular with this dish, two half-liters of
Bitburger and a shot of Korn will be included with
the dinner.
The dinner is open for all friends of the Bavarian
Grill, but due to the long cooking time we can only
serve this very special feast to those friends who
called ahead at 972 881 0705 or email
bavarian@bavariangrill.com for reservations!
Please RSVP by January 12. Please send us an email
at bavarian@bavariangrill.com or contact the
Bavarian Grill at 972-881-0705 for reservations.
These Special dinners -- open to all guests of the
Bavarian Grill -- are normally held on the second
Wednesday night of every odd month.
Regular Stein Club meetings
are scheduled on the second Wednesday night of
every even month.

Our "Fall Fest
Special Tea" - Jagertee |
Jagertee is an invigorating drink made by mixing overproof rum
into black tea. Served warm, it is typical in the wintery cold
parts of Central Europe. The name Jagertee or alternatively
Jagatee or Jägertee derives from the Austro-Bavarian
pronunciation of standard German Jäger "hunter" + Tee "tea".
Jagertee
has become a very popular après-ski drink, especially among
tourists in the Alps, causing serious accidents if taken avant-ski.
The Austrian Stroh rum is used for our own Jagertee variant! |
Traditionally cured
and smoked: Raeucherlachs "Ammersee"
A perfect appetizer for any
meal, heart healthy and flavorful. Congratulations!

Always a favorite during
"Wild Wochen":
Our Schnitzel Fisch,
aka Bratfisch, dipped in lemon juice, floured and pan-seared,
garantueed boneless filet of white fish served with freshly made
herb tartar sauce and mashed potatoes.
Will this become one
of your favorites as well? |

We
now offer Appolinaris,
this
effervescent table water is very well-known in
German-speaking c ountries
as "The Queen of Table Waters". Since 1852, Apollinaris is
sourced from a spring in Bad Neuenahr, Germany. Rain water
seeps through the various layers of earth, picking up
minerals and dissolving and filtering them. The longer the
water travels - and this can take centuries - determines
it's purity. In addition, ground composition determines
which minerals and trace elements enrich the water.
Apollinaris originates in a site which has different layers
of rock and volcanic occlusions: the Eifel. This unspoilt
landscape allows the water to penetrate into the deepest
layers of the earth. Natural carbonic acid collects from the
volcanic rock stratum. This facilitates especially the
absorbtion of many minerals. These ideal conditions provided
by nature in the Eifel explain the high level of purity and
the balanced mineral content of Apollinaris.
