February Stein Club Meeting to feature the newly arrived Spaten Bock

With a little bit of logistical luck the Spaten Bock kegs
which just arrived in Houston, Texas from the Spaten Brewery in Munich, Bavaria will be on tap for the first time in over 10 years in North Texas at the Bavarian Grill for the

Stein Club meeting this Wednesday, February 8th at 7pm.

Stein Club members have enjoyed this great Bavarian Bier in the first few years and were very sad when it was no longer available.

We are very exited about this great Premium Bockbier returning and we are committed to sell at least 30 kegs - so Stein Club members come on over and rediscover an old favorite. We look forward to enjoy this smooth, rich and flavorful light colored brew with about 6.5% alcohol with the Stein Club members.

During the meeting we like to invite the members to share their ideas about desired Stein Club activities and favorite dinners in 2006. We will get in touch with our brewery ambassadors soon to invite them to talk about their products.

Stein Club Leaders Mapping Ambitious Plans for 2006

In their first meeting of 2006, new officers of the Bayern Stein Club and other board members began planning for what they hope will be an interesting year of activities that will appeal both to members who regularly participate in club events as well as other less-active members.

The first step was the decision to publish this newsletter around the first of each month to keep all members informed of upcoming Stein Club events and activities in addition to what’s new and interesting at the Bavarian Grill.

Annual events, such as the Bavarian Grill’s observance of Oktoberfest, scheduled this year for Sept. 23, and the annual club Christmas party in December, are two key festive occasions of interest to club members. Additional celebrations are being discussed that would tie into German holidays and festivals throughout the year. As plans are finalized, they will be announced in the newsletter.

Discussions were also held on other ways to make guests of the Bavarian Grill aware of what the Stein Club has to offer, including regular meetings on the second Wednesday night of every other month, beginning this year at 7 p.m., Feb. 8. Special dinners, open to Stein Club members and guests, are held on alternate months when no regular club meeting is scheduled. Watch for details in the newsletter.

If you’re a Stein Club member who hasn’t been to the Bavarian Grill for awhile, you’ll find several attractions such as a live German brass band playing in the indoor Bier Garten on the second and fourth Saturday night of every month. Or the Bavarian Bier Jazz Dixieland Jazz Band performing live the first Saturday and the third Tuesday of each month. And if you’re interested in acquiring German souvenirs like colorful steins and nutcrackers, you’ll like shopping in the recently opened shop next to the outdoor Bier Garten. For more details on what’s happening at the Bavarian Grill, go online to www.bavariangrill.com to read latest newsletter.

Please feel free to forward this newsletter to your friends in the Bavarian Grill Stein Club

Popular Stein Club Dinner returns on March 8

Join us at 7 p.m., March 8 in the indoor Bier Garten for the traditional spring dinner of Waginger Kren-oder Meerrettich  Fleisch. The dinner features all you can eat of boiled beef with a velvety horseradish sauce, boiled potatoes and the traditional medley of vegetables. Two half-liter steins of a suitably tasteful Bavarian Hofbrau Helles Bier will round out the dining fare. Cost of the dinner will be $ 24.75 for Stein Club members and $ 29.75 for guests. Please make reservations as soon as possible and include a friend to help spread the word about the club’s enjoyable activities.

Spring’s Arrival Accompanied by Change in Menu

February is the last full month of winter, which means spring is almost upon us, along with the annual switch to the Bavarian Grill’s Frühlings Karte or Spring menu.

Regular guests and Stein Club members look forward to such specialties as Bratfisch, a schnitzel-style filet of flounder with all the trimmings; Hühnerbrust nach Gaertnerin Art, a breaded chicken breast stuffed with creamy spinach, leeks and diced tomatoes; and Schweins Haxen nach Bierbrauer Art, a slow-roasted ham hock served with bread dumplings and red cabbage. Another favorite is the "Knuspriger Entenbraten mit Frühlings Gemüse und Kartoffelpfannkuchen", one-half of a Roasted Duck with a crisp, crunchy skin, flavored with our special rotisserie Herbs, on its own juices, served with a Potato pancake and the spring vegetable medley

For more information about all of the delicious treats available year-round at the restaurant, check out the latest newsletter at www.bavariangrill.com

For a limited time only:

Schneider Aventinus Weizen-Eisbock

The Eisbock brewed by Private Weissbierbrauerei G. Schneider & Sohn GmbH in Kelheim, Bavaria is now available at the Bavarian Grill. We have bought all the cases of this wonderful winter brew available in North Texas at this time. But supplies will not be replenished in the near future - if you like to sample this great Bier, the best time is now!

There were always rumors that in the earlier years of last century an even stronger Aventinus existed. Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster at the Schneider Brewery, investigated and found that in the cold winters the precious drink partially froze and due to the separation of water from the liquid, a concentrated version was created. Hans Peter Drexler managed to re-create this mystery in a controlled environment and the Aventinus Eisbock was born. Aventinus Eisbock is almost black in color, full body with malty notes in the nose and chocolate, caramel, fruit and spices on the palate. A full and rich body make it pure indulgence to the extreme. (Alc/Vol 12.0%, served in a 12 oz bottle)
