The members of the Stein Club invite you to participate in our Tasting Challenge to celebrate:


”TAG DES DEUTSCHEN BIERES” - 
Our Reinheitsgebot
Birthday Party and Tasting
will be in the Biergarten on
April 23rd, 2009 starting at 5 pm

We are going to celebrate the birthday of the Reinheitsgebot, the famous German Bier Purity Law. The law originated in the city of Ingolstadt in the duchy of Bavaria on 23 April 1516, concerning standards for the sale and composition of beer. 

Here is the fun part: The tasting challenge:
 Each contestant enjoys five "Deutsches Bier" samples to detect the style and it's origins. If you are correct you'll move to the next round where the tasting gets a little more challenging.

We’ll continue the rounds until we have a Winner for our
$25 Gift Certificate
for the Bavarian Grill.
 

All contestants will get a tee shirt with this logo, the Deutsches Bier samples, snacks and a lot of fun for their $ 5 entry fee.

 

Deadline to register as Contestant is Saturday, April 18th, 2009 at 9pm.

Round 1: 5 different "Deutsches Bier" samples served in clear tasting glasses -
Contestants will get 1 point each for correct answer of:
  • German Bier style
  • Region brewed in
  • Town of origin
     
Round 2: 5 different "Deutsches Bier" samples served in  black tasting glasses -
Contestants will get 1 point each for correct answer of:
  • German Bier style
  • Region brewed in
  • Town of origin
  • Brewery name
     
Round 3: 5 different "Deutsches Bier" samples served in  black tasting glasses -
Contestants will be blindfolded and get 1 point each for correct answer of:
  • German Bier style
  • Region brewed in
  • Town of origin
  • Brewery name
  • Yeast type used

 Final Round: Our judges will ask the contestants questions on "Deutsches Bier" -
 fastest verbal answers only will count - contestants will hold Bier Stein in air and slam it on the table to show they are first to be ready to answer - wrong or no answer will lose same amount of points.
1 point for correct answer question 1,
2 points for question 2,
3 points for question 3,
4 points for question 4,
5 points for question 5.
   

If necessary: Best out of each race move to next round

Golden Goal Round: Sort the "Deutsches Bier" quickly

Contestants will be asked to sort

different brewery labeled bottles from light to dark -
the winner with the fastest time will take all the honors
   
   

Any and all decisions by the 3 Stein Club Judges will be final - just like in soccer!

  

The Executive Board of the Stein Club reserves the right to change any rules by majority vote of the officers at any time!
